The collage you posted is so pensive juxtaposed with the Milton quote. Perfect addition for the blog. I wondered where you found the image. Have you had a chance to sit by the water somewhere and watch the tides?
The woman seems to have made an exit from the dimmer side of the work, with its bold dark forms. She's chosen for a time to sit quite elegantly in a fluid environment where she is surrounded by light and air. I wonder when she's going to kick those shoes off and dig her toes in the sand.
What's happening on the island? I imagine that ferry lines are much longer now and that the days are beautiful. Did you meander through Farmer's Market or Tilth lately?
Ann, the image is from a book I made which I call Landscapes. It is a small format 3x4 with 5 collages of female figures juxtaposed with abstracts. The markets are open and busy and the ferry lines are long. I spend most of my time at home with the doors and windows open, listening to jazz, reading or floating in the pool. Imagine being able to swim in May and June...what a gift. love, m.
